Back to work

When she's not digging the garden over, pruning or weeding, Barnaby's human is a Volunteer Lock Keeper for the Canal and River Trust. Now spring is warming up the season is beginning, so it's time to get back to work.

Barnaby would be great company at the lock so Laura took him for a visit today to see if he would be happy there.

He barked a lot at the first boat but got more relaxed over a couple of hours. It was a very hot day though, we might need a sun shade in the summer.

We will go back at the weekend and try to get Barnaby accustomed to it all before work starts on Tuesday. In the meantime Barnaby is just going to relax!

Who knew.....

We have a big rec just five minutes from home!

We had great fun playing chase for twenty minutes before the sun set

It's a wide open space!

 ➖➖

We had spent the morning at Cranford again.

It's becoming a real favourite, especially now someone has found the river.

A really lovely afternoon

We went to Cranford Park again

It had rained all morning so the ground was a bit slippy but the sky was clearing.

Sunlight began to dapple the moss covered logs.

It was nice to look at but the human shouldn't really let Barnaby lead the way!

He takes routes that don't follow the path and Laura had to clamber over a fallen tree.

We ended up on a path alongside the motorway, and the remains of an old building built into a really old wall.

But then came out to a lovely little avenue.

Barnaby tried to find the ice house but there's hardly anything left to see.

The HaHa is quite obvious though.

It is nice that he can have some time off the lead and he is starting to make some friends among the dogs that we meet there.

It was so good to see him run about in the open spaces there and roll in the grass like a puppy. Sorry we didn't get any shots of that!

Barnaby likes Georgian architecture

Somehow Barnaby managed to scrape a strip of fur off his face! He has a tiny scratch on his nose and I expect he had a headache!

So we had a gentle day, collecting Laura's sister from the airport, a cup of tea with mum and then a stroll by the river in Twickenham.
This is the back of St Mary's church, posh isn't it?

We had a bit of a nosey at York House, part of the council offices now, which used to be the home of the Earl of Clarendon.

This little Georgian street is near the White Swan pub, by the riverside.....

.....but the swan we saw on the water was black!

Laura loves plants and we spotted this lovely magnolia just before the rain started and we got back indoors.

Funny birds

There's this big tree at the dog park, we think it's a chestnut.
All around it on the ground there are these little fluffy things.

It turns out there are parakeets up there that pull the fuzzy leaf casings off and drop them on the ground!
Barnaby wasn't really feeling his best though so we went home and had a good long sleep.
On our afternoon walk we spotted this sign and Barnaby would like you all to remember there are no poo fairies and no litter fairies so please clean up after your dog and take your rubbish to a bin.

A lovely walk

We had a really good walk at Cranford today.

Somebody even had a quick paddle in Frog's Ditch!
We're both exhausted now and looking forward to a good night's sleep.

A rest day

Spent mostly on the sofa fast asleep.

We had just two short walks but spotted this amazing fungus on a tree stump.

Wednesday 8 March 2017

Such a big day

One of the other dog owners at the dog park told us about the Shot Tower.

So we went to find it. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crane_Park)

There were some lovely trees there...

...and the river Crane.

We walked about 3km, so it's a good job Barnaby has a new bed!!

Tuesday 7 March 2017

Spring is springing

There were signs of the changing seasons on the heath today. We saw blossom and daffodils and the little birds were singing their hearts out.

Barnaby wants to know what the London Loop is.....
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/walking/loop-walk ...we keep coming across parts of it.

This evening we went to the cafe in Isleworth to meet some friends.

Barnaby was a bit cross to be left out of the cake eating and tea drinking but he was ever so good and, of course, everybody loved him.

Friday 3 March 2017

A few quiet days

But now we're getting back to normal with a good walk in a wide open space.
