Well that was some weather

We got very wet and muddy today at Cranford Park

I'm not sure Barnaby appreciates being taken for walkies in a hailstorm!!

But we managed to shelter under a friendly holly.

And then we met a huge posse of dogs, and Barnaby got FILTHY.

He even rolled in the mud which he doesn't do very much.

Trip to a garden centre

Barnaby has such a tough life........

We had a run about at the dog park in the morning and played with the other dogs, including setters, GSDs, a mastiff, a border terrier and all. Barnaby isn't very interested in the toys though, he just wants to sniff the trees and bushes.

Then after lunch we went to a garden centre (or two) and checked out the pet sections as well as looking for some plants - Laura really liked this one that was outside Squires but couldn't find a label on it.
Garden centres are great places to take a dog, there are lots of sights and smells to investigate, people love to say hello to him and there are lots of corners and different routes so he has to pay attention to where the human wants him to go. We failed to find something to stop Barnaby drinking from the pond though.

A run about at the country park just before the rain started and then home for tea, and a nap. What a hard day!

A relaxed day after the big day at the vet

Just some gentle strolling at the dog park and the country park today.

if you look very, very, very closely you might see the bunny (just right of the wooden bench).

We also saw some sheep

The stitches are out

The vet was very pleased with how well Barnaby is healing.

So to celebrate we had a run in the dog park.

And then a walk by the canal.

And then fell asleep on the sofa

Barnaby saw a rainbow

He wasn't really all that impressed, but he did have wet feet and legs so Laura forgave him.

He also wasn't very interested in helping in the garden (before the rain). Even though the human was excited to find a crocus flowering under a hebe.

Stitches

Poor Barnaby is not doing too well with either the cone or the inflatable collar. He's managed to wriggle out of both and chew his stitches!! So an impromptu trip to the vet was had and all was proclaimed to be OK but he needs to be careful.

We're just doing short walks on the lead, no running around and getting muddy. We're both a bit stressed and exhausted by it all; me from waking up several times a night and him from smashing the cone into everything, both in the house and out on walks.

First real walk post surgery

We had an hour long trek across Hounslow Heath, on the lead to make sure he didn't get his stitches too mucky.

Barnaby saw two cows, but they were the other side of a thick hedge so we couldn't get a photo of them. Then we saw a long tailed tit high in a tree.

We saw two huge dogs as well. One was an Irish wolfhound who was easily eight inches taller than Barnaby. The other one looked like a cross between a Bernese mountain dog and a bear, especially as it's human was only about 5'4".

You can find out more about the heath here... Hounslow Heath

The dreaded cone

Poor Barnaby had to have a minor procedure (biopsies) sho he has to wear the cone. He's not happy.

Barnaby's version of shopping

As the human sat eating her lunch Barnaby sidled up to her with his tennis ball in his mouth and offered it to her in exchange for some of the Marmite sandwich.

After laughing a bit too much the human explained that Marmite is much too salty for dogs and instead let him have a Kong toy with Primula soft cheese instead. Barnaby accepted the deal.

We also had a nice walk at a local country park where Barnaby saw swans, sheep and bunnies.

But Barnaby loves puddles and by the time we were done he was filthy!!!!

A big week

The human went to see Black Sabbath. Twice.
So Barnaby had to stay home with the human's mum. Barnaby was ever such a good by but he did get a bit fractious by the time Laura got home the second time.

So we have had a quiet week of just the dog park in the mornings and the local country park in the afternoons, and lots of lounging around in between!

It's a hard life being Barnaby!
